Those who long for what is right and good will be filled by God.

What does “Satisfied” mean in Matthew 5:6?
Jesus uses the strong words hunger and thirst, which describe deep, daily need rather than mild interest. Righteousness here means the whole life of doing what is right before God.
Going deeper
This beatitude is unusual because it praises a longing, not an achievement. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness. Jesus does not say blessed are the people who have arrived. He says blessed are those who want it desperately, as a hungry person wants bread and a thirsty person wants water. Wanting God's way of life that much is itself a gift, and it comes with a promise: they shall be filled.
Many of us are hungry for many things: comfort, approval, success. Jesus points us to a hunger that can actually be satisfied. If you feel restless, ask what you are really longing for. Then turn that longing toward God and toward doing what is right in the small choices of your day. He fills those who come to Him empty. Let your hunger for what is good grow, and trust that He will meet it, in His time and in His way.
