With the LORD as light, salvation, and strength, there is nothing left to fear.

What does “No fear” mean in Psalm 27:1?
David asks two questions that answer themselves: whom shall I fear, and of whom shall I be afraid? He names three things God is to him: light, salvation, and the strength of his life.

The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? David does not say there is nothing dangerous in the world. The rest of the psalm mentions enemies and armies. He says that with God as his light, his rescue, and his strength, fear has lost its hold. Each title answers a kind of fear: light for the darkness of not knowing, salvation for danger, strength for weakness.
Think about what you fear most right now. Is it the unknown, a threat, or your own weakness? Match it to what God is for you. He is light when you cannot see the way. He is salvation when you need rescue. He is strength when you have none. Say the verse slowly, and put your specific fear into it. Fear may still knock, but you can answer with the truth that God is with you.
