If you need wisdom, ask God. He gives generously and does not scold.
“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”James 1:5 (KJV)
What does “Wisdom” mean in James 1:5?
The Greek word for liberally means generously and without holding back. Upbraideth not means He does not scold or shame us for asking.

James wrote to believers going through many kinds of trials, and he says that when we lack wisdom, we should ask. The promise has two parts. God gives to all people, without exception, and He does so generously. Then comes something easy to overlook: He does not find fault. A lot of us hold back from asking because we fear being made to feel foolish. James assures us that God is not like that.
The start of a new year brings decisions about work, money, family, and health. Wisdom is more than information. It is knowing what to do with what we know. Before you make your plans, ask. Be specific about what you need wisdom for, and ask each day rather than only once. Then pay attention to what God shows you through Scripture, through counsel from mature believers, and through your own circumstances. He has promised to answer, and He is generous.
