Believing that we will see God's goodness keeps us from giving up.

What does “Goodness” mean in Psalm 27:13?
David says he would have lost heart if he had not believed that he would see the goodness of the LORD. The phrase land of the living means in this life, not only in the future.

David writes, I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. The sentence is unfinished, and that is part of its power. He does not describe the disaster that would have followed. He simply says that belief kept him going. Believing that God's goodness will be seen, in this life and not just the next, was the thing that held him up.
When you feel like giving up, ask what you believe about God's goodness. Do you believe that you will see it in your own life? Look back over the past year and note evidence of His goodness. Write down three examples. Let them build your confidence for what is ahead. Then keep going, with faith that the LORD will show His goodness in the land of the living. Belief carries us when strength runs out. Keep believing, and keep looking, because He is faithful.
