God invites us to stop dwelling on the past because He is doing something new.
“Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.”Isaiah 43:18-19 (KJV)
What does “A new thing” mean in Isaiah 43:18-19?
God speaks to people who were focused on former deliverances and present hardships. He promises a new work, with roads in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

God says, Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. He is not telling them to forget His past faithfulness. He is warning against being stuck in it, as if His best work were behind them. God is always able to do something new, even in the driest places.
Sometimes we cling to past successes or past pain and miss what God is doing now. Ask yourself whether you are living in yesterday. What might a new thing look like in your life: a fresh start, a new relationship, a new way of serving? Ask God to open your eyes to it. He makes ways in wilderness and rivers in the desert. Be alert, and be willing to step out when a path opens.

Lord, You are doing a new thing. Open my eyes to see it, and help me to let go of the past and step forward with You. In Jesus' name, amen.
