What does “Things above” mean in Colossians 3:1-2?
Paul says that believers have been raised with Christ, which means they share in His new life. The word affection means the whole direction of the mind and desire, not just a warm feeling.

Paul connects Easter to everyday living. If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Since the resurrection has already changed our standing, we are asked to let our desires follow. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. He is not telling us to ignore the world, but to let heaven's priorities shape how we live in it.
It is easy to fill our days with what is urgent and forget what is important. Setting our minds above means asking what matters to Christ: love, mercy, faithfulness, and truth. Try this today. Before you begin your work, spend a few moments asking, what do You care about in my day? Then let that guide your choices. Small acts of setting your mind above will shape your habits and your heart over time.
