The Hebrew word for teach diligently suggests repeating and impressing something again and again. The passage describes talking about God's words in every part of the day.

Moses gave these instructions to parents in Israel. God's words were to be in their hearts first, and then they were to teach them to their children. The setting is not a classroom. It is ordinary life, at home, on the road, at bedtime, and at the start of the day. Faith is caught as much as it is taught, through the conversations and habits of a household.
This applies to all of us, whether we have children of our own or not. Many of us can influence young people as grandparents, aunts and uncles, neighbors, teachers, or mentors. The way we pray, talk about God, and live around them teaches them more than we realize. Think about one simple way to share your faith with a child or young person this week. It could be a prayer at mealtime, a story of how God helped you, or reading a verse together.
