Paul writes, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. Freedom can be misused. It can become an excuse to please ourselves. Paul points to a better use: to serve. It is a striking paradox that in Christ we are free, and the way we use that freedom is to become servants of one another. Love is the reason and the method.

Look at the freedoms you enjoy: your time, your choices, your resources. Ask how you could use one of them this week to serve someone. Perhaps you could give up a free evening to help a friend, or use a skill to bless a neighbor. Serving does not shrink freedom. It gives it purpose. Let love be your reason, and choose one concrete way to serve someone today. Freedom that serves is freedom fulfilled. Let love decide how you use it today.
