Jesus sends His followers into the world as the Father sent Him.
“Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.”John 20:21 (KJV)
What does “Sent” mean in John 20:21?
After the resurrection, Jesus greets the disciples with peace and then gives them a mission. The pattern of their sending is His own: sent by the Father in love and in service.
Going deeper
Jesus first speaks peace. Then He says, as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. The disciples had been hiding behind closed doors, and now they are commissioned. They are not sent alone, and they are not sent without peace. They are sent in the same way Jesus was sent: to serve, to love, and to make God known. Their mission was a continuation of His.
That applies to every believer. You are sent to your workplace, your neighborhood, and your family. You are sent as a representative of Jesus, in the same spirit He came in: humble, compassionate, and truthful. Before you go into your day, take a moment to receive His peace, and then remember that you are sent. Ask Him where He is sending you today, and who is waiting for a little of His love. Let that sense of being sent give your ordinary day a purpose. You represent Him wherever you go.

Lord Jesus, thank You for sending me as the Father sent You. Give me Your peace, and use me wherever You send me today. In Jesus' name, amen.
