Be prepared to explain your hope with gentleness and respect.
“But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:”1 Peter 3:15 (KJV)
What does “Ready to answer” mean in 1 Peter 3:15?
Peter tells believers to honor Christ as Lord in their hearts and to be ready to give a reason for their hope. He asks that it be done with meekness and reverence.

Peter writes, But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear. Two things come together: a life set apart for Christ, and a readiness to speak. The questions come because people notice hope in us. We do not have to argue people into faith. We simply need to be ready to explain, gently and respectfully, why we hope.
Try putting your own answer into a few sentences. Why do you have hope? What has Jesus done in your life? Practice saying it simply, as if to a friend. Then look for the chance, and ask God to bring people who are curious. Be gentle. Do not pressure or lecture. A quiet, honest answer, given with respect, often does more than a long debate. Be ready, and let hope be visible in how you live.
