God clothes His people with power from above for the work He gives them.

What does “Power from on high” mean in Luke 24:49?
The King James word endued translates a Greek word meaning to clothe or put on. Jesus says the disciples will be dressed in power from on high, as though it were a garment.

In His last words before the ascension, Jesus tells His disciples what is coming: behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high. Tarry means stay. The picture is of putting on clothing, being clothed with something that is not our own. The power is given, not produced. They were to receive it in God's time and use it for God's purposes.
We often try to do our work in our own strength, and grow tired and discouraged. This verse reminds us that we are meant to be clothed in something greater. Ask God today to clothe you with His power for whatever He has given you to do: a hard conversation, a task at work, or a season of caregiving. Then move forward trusting that you are dressed for the job, not by your abilities, but by His Spirit.
