What does “One accord” mean in Acts 1:14?
The Greek word for one accord means with one mind and purpose. Luke names the women, Mary the mother of Jesus, and His brothers alongside the apostles, a wide group united in prayer.

The upper room was crowded with people from different backgrounds. There were fishermen, a former tax collector, women who had followed Jesus, and even His own brothers, who had once doubted Him. Luke says they all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication. They were united, not because they agreed on everything, but because they shared one purpose and one Lord. They prayed together, and they kept praying.
Unity in prayer is a powerful thing. It does not require identical opinions. It requires a shared desire to seek God together. Is there a group you could pray with regularly this week, such as your family, a friend, or a small group at church? Even ten minutes together can shift the atmosphere. The Spirit came to a praying, united community, and He still delights to meet those who gather in one accord. Prayer together is a gift we often overlook, and it costs us so little.
