Jesus comes through locked doors and speaks peace to frightened people.
“Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.”John 20:19 (KJV)
What does “Locked doors” mean in John 20:19?
The disciples had shut themselves in out of fear of the religious authorities who had condemned Jesus. Jesus stands in the middle of the room and speaks the ordinary greeting of peace with new meaning.
Going deeper
It was evening on the first Easter, and the disciples were hiding behind closed doors. They had heard the report of the empty tomb, yet fear still ruled the room. Then Jesus stood in the midst of them and said, Peace be unto you. He did not scold them for hiding. He did not remind them that they had run away. He simply brought peace into the very room where fear had taken hold.
Most of us have rooms in our lives with the doors shut: places we protect out of fear, shame, or failure. This verse says that Jesus is not stopped by them. He comes into the place of fear and speaks peace, not judgment. Consider what door you have kept closed. You do not have to unlock it in your own strength. Simply tell Him it is there, and invite Him in. He knows how to meet frightened people, and He does it gently.

Lord Jesus, You come to frightened people and speak peace. Come into the places I have closed off, and give me Your peace. In Jesus' name, amen.
