God's presence makes an ordinary place holy, and it calls for reverence.

What does “Holy ground” mean in Exodus 3:5?
Moses was tending sheep in the wilderness when he saw a bush burning without being consumed. Taking off his shoes was a sign of respect for the One who was present.

Moses had turned aside to look at a strange sight, and then God spoke: Put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground. Nothing about the place had changed. It was still a patch of desert. What made it holy was that God was there. The command is not meant to frighten but to teach. Some moments call for us to slow down, lower our voices, and simply honor the One who is near.
We often treat God's presence casually, or we forget that He is present at all. This verse invites us to notice. Your kitchen table, a hospital room, or a quiet walk can become holy ground when you turn aside and pay attention to Him. Try it today. Stop for one minute, wherever you are, and say, Lord, You are here. Let a little reverence and wonder settle in, and then carry on with your day more aware.
