God's grace is enough, and His strength shows up in our weakness.
“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”2 Corinthians 12:9 (KJV)
What does “Enough” mean in 2 Corinthians 12:9?
The Greek word arkeo means to be enough or sufficient. Made perfect translates a word meaning brought to completion, which suggests that God's power reaches its full effect in our weakness.
Going deeper
Paul asked God three times to remove a painful difficulty that he called a thorn in the flesh. God did not take it away. Instead, He gave this reply: my grace is sufficient for thee, for my strength is made perfect in weakness. It was not the answer Paul wanted, but it turned out to be a deeper gift. His limitation became the place where God's power was most clearly seen.
This changes how we view our weaknesses. We often try to hide them or wish them away. Paul says he will gladly boast in them, because they make room for the power of Christ. If you are struggling with something you cannot fix, whether it is a health issue, a limitation, or a repeating failure, bring it to God honestly. Ask Him for the grace to face it, and trust that His grace is enough for today. His grace is available today, and it will be tomorrow.
