Jesus knows His sheep completely, and they can come to know Him in return.
“I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.”John 10:14 (KJV)
What does “Known” mean in John 10:14?
The word know here means an intimate, personal knowledge, not just knowing about someone. Jesus compares it to the way He and the Father know each other.
Going deeper
Jesus says, I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. Two directions of knowing are held together. He knows us fully, including our fears, failures, and hopes. And we are known by those He loves, in a relationship that grows. Then He adds, in the next verse, that this is like the knowledge between the Father and Himself. It is a very deep intimacy.
Many of us feel that if people knew us fully they would turn away. Jesus knows every detail and stays. That is grace. Rest for a moment in that truth. You do not have to perform or hide. Then respond by seeking to know Him better. Read about His life, talk with Him honestly, and notice how He has been present in your story. Being known is the foundation of belonging, and He is a faithful Shepherd. He knows every detail, and He stays.
