The shepherds did not wait. They went to see what God had shown them.
“And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.”Luke 2:15 (KJV)
What does “Seek” mean in Luke 2:15?
The shepherds say let us now go, and the word now shows their urgency. They speak of the news as something the Lord made known to them, not something they made up.
Going deeper
The angels had returned to heaven, and the field was dark again. This is the moment where many of us stop. We hear something from God, feel the wonder, and then return to routine. The shepherds do the opposite. They talk to each other and decide right away to go and see. Their faith moves their feet. There was no committee and no delay, only a decision to go.
Scripture promises that those who seek God will find Him. The shepherds' journey is a small example of that promise. They had flocks to look after and could easily have said someone else should stay behind. But they went, and they found the child just as the angel said. What is God making known to you this Christmas? Perhaps it is a call to reconcile, to give, or to draw closer in prayer. Do not let the moment pass. Take the step today.
