So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. Paul is teaching about spiritual gifts and humility, and he starts with this picture. A body has many parts, and each is different, but they belong together and depend on one another. No part can say it does not need the rest. To be a Christian is to be joined not only to Christ but to His people.
That means our lives are intertwined. My struggles affect you, and your gifts help me. It also means that we need each other, even when it is inconvenient. If you have drifted from a church family or a small group, consider returning. If you are already part of one, ask how you could strengthen a bond with someone. Send a note, share a meal, or offer help. You are a member of others, and they are members of you.
