Speaking the truth with love helps everyone grow toward Christ.
“But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:”Ephesians 4:15 (KJV)
What does “Truth in love” mean in Ephesians 4:15?
Paul says growth happens when truth and love are held together. The verse goes on to say that this brings the whole body of believers to maturity in Christ.
Going deeper
Some of us lean toward truth and forget love. Others lean toward love and avoid truth. Paul asks for both at once: speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things. Truth without love can wound, and love without truth can flatter. Together they build people up. The goal is not winning an argument but helping one another grow to be more like Christ.
This is a hard skill, especially when someone we care about is making a mistake. It calls for prayer before we speak, and for motives that are pure. Ask yourself if you are speaking to help or to be right. Choose your words, your timing, and your tone with care. And listen well to the truth others speak to you in love, even when it stings. A church or family that practices this becomes strong and honest, and grows up together. Care and honesty belong together.
