We can ask God to show us His ways, and He teaches those who wait on Him.
“Shew me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.”Psalm 25:4-5 (KJV)
What does “Teach me” mean in Psalm 25:4-5?
David asks for three things: to be shown God's ways, taught His paths, and led in His truth. The word wait suggests hopeful, patient expectation.

David does not pray for a comfortable route. He prays for the right one. Shew me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me. The repetition of teach shows how much he knows he needs a teacher. He is not asking God to bless a plan he has already made. He is asking to be taught, which means he is willing to learn and to change direction.
Then he gives his reason: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day. Waiting all day is not idleness. It is a posture of attention, staying alert to God throughout ordinary hours. If you are facing a decision, begin by asking God to teach you rather than to confirm what you want. Offer the same short prayer each morning this week, and watch for His answer in Scripture, in wise counsel, and in circumstances.
