In Scripture a name stands for a person's character, so knowing God's name means knowing what He is like. The verse says that those who seek Him will find that He has not forsaken them.
Going deeper
Trust is not built on a wish. It is built on knowledge. David says that they that know thy name will put their trust in thee. In the Bible, God's names reveal who He is: the Lord who provides, who heals, who shepherds, who is present. The more we learn about His character, the more sensible trust becomes. We trust people we know, and the same is true of God.
The second half of the verse gives the evidence: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee. Those who have gone before us looked for God and found Him faithful. It might help to read about God's character in Scripture, one attribute at a time. This week, choose one name or description, such as shepherd, refuge, or Father, and look up where it appears. Let what you learn move from your head into your trust. Knowing Him well makes trusting Him natural.
