God promises to be with us, strengthen us, and hold us up.
“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”Isaiah 41:10 (KJV)
What does “Upheld” mean in Isaiah 41:10?
The verse gives three promises: I will strengthen thee, I will help thee, and I will uphold thee. The right hand of righteousness pictures God's strong, faithful hand holding on to His people.
Going deeper
God speaks these words through Isaiah to people who were afraid and felt small. He begins with a command that He repeats often in Scripture: fear not. Then He gives the reason, and it is not that circumstances will improve. It is that He is with them and that He is their God. His presence is the answer to their fear. Everything that follows is built on it.
Notice how personal the language is. It says I am with thee, I am thy God, I will strengthen thee. God does not stand at a distance and toss advice. He takes hold of us. When you feel afraid or overwhelmed, remember that you are held by a stronger hand than your own. Read the verse aloud slowly today, and let each promise sink in. Whatever you are facing, you are not facing it alone, and you will not be dropped. He does not let go.
