The song begins, Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation. Three things are said of God: salvation, strength, and song. And then comes the picture: with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation. In a dry land, a well is life. And these wells are not one bucket but many, an ongoing supply for the thirsty.
We often go to God only in emergencies, taking a small sip and hurrying away. This verse pictures drawing again and again, and with joy. Come to the well today. Read a passage, pray, thank Him, and take time to be refreshed. Ask what He has provided that you have not drawn on: forgiveness, strength, guidance, peace. Draw deeply, and let joy rise. His wells do not run dry.
