What does “Integrity” mean in Proverbs 10:9?
The Hebrew word behind uprightly means integrity, wholeness, being the same person in private as in public. The verse says such a person walks surely, with confidence.

Integrity means that our words and our actions match and that we do not have to keep track of a false story. A person who lives with integrity walks confidently because there is nothing to hide. In contrast, the person who twists the truth or takes crooked paths will eventually be found out. The proverb states it plainly: crooked ways become known.
Integrity is built in small choices. It is whether we give correct change, report honest hours, keep a promise that is inconvenient, or admit a mistake before it is discovered. Each choice adds up to a life that can be trusted. And integrity is deeply freeing, since we do not need to remember which version of ourselves we showed to whom. Consider one area where you are tempted to cut a corner or shade the truth. Choose the honest path this week, and notice the freedom that comes with it.
