God listens to our voice, and that is a reason to keep calling on Him.

What does “He hears” mean in Psalm 116:1-2?
The psalmist loves the LORD because he has been heard. The image of God inclining His ear is of someone bending down to listen closely to a quiet voice.

The psalm begins with a simple statement: I love the LORD, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications. The psalmist does not start with an argument about why to love God. He starts with an experience: God listened. Then he adds, Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live. To incline the ear is to bend close, as one does to hear a whisper. God does not shout back. He leans in.
That is a comfort when you feel that your prayers are small or unheard. God listens to supplications, the plain requests of ordinary people. And because He has heard, the psalmist resolves to keep calling for as long as he lives. Make that resolution your own. Say a short prayer right now about something on your heart, and believe that He is leaning close. Let your love for Him grow from the simple fact that He hears.
