God has raised Jesus to the highest place, and one day everyone will honor Him.
“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;”Philippians 2:9-10 (KJV)
What does “Every knee” mean in Philippians 2:9-10?
Paul follows the hymn of Christ's humbling with the other half of the story: God's exaltation of Him. The bowing of every knee describes worship that reaches the whole creation.
Going deeper
After describing how low Jesus went, Paul shows how high He has been raised. God has given him a name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow. The One who became a servant and died on a cross now holds the highest honor. That is the pattern of God's kingdom: those who humble themselves are lifted up, and the lowest place becomes the highest.
This can steady us when the world feels out of control. Every power that seems large will one day bow to the name of Jesus. It also invites us to bow now, willingly, in worship and obedience. Try kneeling or bowing your head today as you pray, as a small act of honoring Him. Give Him your worry, your plans, and your pride, and say, Jesus is Lord. That confession will one day be spoken by all, and we can begin it now.
