Even the most ordinary activities can be done to honor God.

Paul writes, Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. The examples are as ordinary as they come: eating and drinking. Nothing is too small to be done for God. This means there is no gap between sacred and ordinary. Preparing a meal, doing paperwork, and caring for a child can each be an act of worship, if done with the aim of honoring Him.
That gives meaning to the unglamorous parts of life. It also gives a test for our choices: can this be done to the glory of God? Look at your day and choose one ordinary activity to dedicate to Him on purpose. Before you begin, say, Lord, I do this for Your glory. Notice how it changes your attitude and your care. Serving the world often begins with doing small things well and offering them to God.
