Jesus does not only show the way to God. He is the way.
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”John 14:6 (KJV)
What does “Way” mean in John 14:6?
Jesus says three things about Himself: the way, the truth, and the life. He says that no one comes to the Father except by Him.
Going deeper
Thomas had just asked how the disciples could know the way, since they did not know where Jesus was going. Jesus answers with a claim that rests entirely on who He is: I am the way, the truth, and the life. He does not give directions. He offers Himself. The way to the Father is not a set of instructions but a person, and that person is walking with us.
The second half of the verse is a bold statement: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. It is not written to shut people out but to show where the door is. Jesus is not saying that some people are excluded. He is saying that He Himself is the open way. Take comfort in that if you feel lost. You do not have to find a complicated route. Come to Jesus, and He will bring you to the Father. Share this good news gently with someone who is searching.
