We are called to live in love, following the example of Christ.
“Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.”Ephesians 5:1-2 (KJV)
What does “Walk in love” mean in Ephesians 5:1-2?
Paul asks believers to imitate God as beloved children do. The measure of love is Christ's own self-giving, which he compares to a sweet-smelling offering.

Paul says, Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us. Children learn by watching, and they copy what they see. Paul invites us to do the same with God. The example we are given is not an idea but a person, who hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. Love, in this picture, is measured by what it is willing to give.
To walk in love is to make it our daily pace, not a special effort. It means asking in each situation what love would do. It might be patience with a slow coworker, a meal for a struggling neighbor, or a kind answer when you would rather snap. Choose one relationship today where you will deliberately walk in love. Ask Christ to show you what giving yourself looks like in that place, and take one step, however small.
