Paul's letter to the Corinthians deals with many difficult things: division, lawsuits, disorder in worship, and questions about resurrection. He ends with a single sentence: let all your things be done with charity. Whatever happens, whether you are disagreeing, serving, giving, or correcting, do it with love. It is a simple test that can be applied to any conversation, decision, or task. Is this being done in love?
The test is demanding because it covers the hard moments too. It is possible to be right and unloving, or busy and unloving, or generous and unloving. Paul asks for love in everything. Try applying this to one part of your day, perhaps a meeting, a family meal, or a conversation you dread. Before you begin, pray, help me do this in love. Then notice how it changes your tone, your pace, and what you choose to say or leave unsaid. Love can be the thread that runs through it all.
